America has 24 copper mines, but there is only one Boundary Waters
Last week, the Trump Administration announced it is beginning the official environmental review process for the Twin Metals sulfide-ore copper mine on the edge of the Boundary Waters. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has started the clock on this review even though the state of Minnesota declared the Twin Metals mine plan "incomplete."

We're challenging state rules that jeopardize the Boundary Waters
Despite the Boundary Waters having the highest level of federal protection as a designated Wilderness, current Minnesota state rules do not prohibit risky sulfide-ore copper mining on lands near the Wilderness and adjacent to rivers and lakes that flow directly into the Boundary Waters. In fact, current pollution standards in Minnesota rules would allow significant damage to the clean water and forests in and around the Boundary Waters.

Our Gear Garage sale was a success
Thanks to all who participated in our online gear garage sale. We collected 231 items and raised almost $10,000! Half of the proceeds from the event will be donated to MIGIZI [[link removed]] , an incredible local nonprofit we've worked with before whose mission focuses on empowering Native youth.

One of the frequently asked questions at our presentations and events is “what about Canada?” Proposed sulfide-ore copper mining on the edge of the Boundary Waters and within the Rainy River Drainage Basin is indeed a threat to waterways along the international border and into Canada.
