Hey John, I’m on my way back to DC from Phoenix right now, and I wanted to send you a quick update.

It’s Day 7 of Trump and Republicans’ government shutdown, and congressional Republicans are still on vacation.

Republicans are prolonging this shutdown because they don’t care about the American people. They don’t care that, under GOP leadership, millions of Americans’ healthcare premiums will double and millions more will lose their healthcare entirely.

But I care.

That’s why my Democratic colleagues and I are fighting like hell to re-open the government and negotiate a deal to solve the healthcare crisis Republicans have created — and it’s why I’m headed back to DC to keep up the fight. I refuse to back down.
