VOTE YES on Proposition 17! Restore Voting Rights to Californians on Parole

Sacramento, CA -- The November 3rd ballot measure that would restore the right to vote to over 53,000 Californians on parole officially has a number: Proposition 17. We urge Californians to vote YES on Proposition 17 and provide the following statement from Sam Lewis, Executive Director of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC):

"At ARC we believe that parole should be a period of support and reintegration, including civic reintegration. We have seen the positive impact that this approach has had on the rehabilitation and successful reentry of our members, many of whom are working, going to school, paying taxes, serving their communities and training to protect California from devastating fires. It is now in the hands of California voters to vote YES on Prop 17 in November to ensure that the 53,000 Californians on parole-- our neighbors, friends, family members, colleagues and leaders-- have a fuller voice in our communities."
