Thanks to partners like you, the League is celebrating two major legislative victories for redwoods:
Prop 4 win
Despite 2024’s landslide passage of Proposition 4—the largest natural resources bond in U.S. history—funding was at risk of significant delays. Thanks to persistent advocacy, strong partnerships, and your calls for action, California lawmakers agreed to deliver $3.2 billion this year to protect our lands, waterways, and communities.
That means critical projects that safeguard old-growth groves, restore damaged forests, and expand equitable access to redwood parks will receive badly needed funding.

GGRF win
Lawmakers also reauthorized the Cap-and-Invest program, which directs billions into the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). The deal establishes a new $1 billion discretionary fund and preserves $200 million annually for wildfire resilience. This includes programs like CalFire’s Forest Health grants, which support our fire resilience efforts in the giant sequoias.
Your support powers climate action
Both these victories are the direct result of persistent advocacy, strategic partnerships, and the voices of thousands who spoke up when it mattered most.
When we act together, we can deliver extraordinary outcomes for our redwoods and our climate future. Thank you for standing with us!
