"Through the bipartisan budget signed into law by Governor Whitmer on Oct. 7, the MEDC will continue its ‘Make It in Michigan’ economic development strategy focused on People, Places and Projects across the state"

On Oct. 7, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Michigan’s bipartisan budget into law, affirming the ongoing work of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the state’s ‘Make It in Michigan’ economic development strategy in FY2026.

With support for vital programs and tools that focus on People, Places and Projects, the MEDC will continue making Pure Michigan a great place to visit, work, establish a business and put down roots. As an Accredited Economic Development Organization – designated by the International Economic Development Council in April 2025  [ [link removed] ]– the MEDC is committed to ensuring Michiganders across both peninsulas realize economic opportunity and a top quality of life.

"“We are grateful that the governor and our legislative partners have passed and signed a state budget, providing the continuing certainty that Michigan’s communities and businesses depend on and further undergirding the progress we are making as a state through our ‘Make It in Michigan’ economic development strategy,” said *MEDC CEO Quentin L. Messer, Jr.* “We are encouraged that this budget will sustain investment in job creation and grow our tax base by supporting small businesses and communities on both peninsulas, ensuring continued focus on people, places and projects across the state. This budget provides a path forward for Team Michigan, investing in programs ranging from the arts and tourism and hospitality to supporting dual use aerospace and defense activities. While work remains, these budgetary investments ensure Pure Michigan remains a great place to visit, work, create businesses and put down roots.”"
