Phil Weiser for Colorado

Friend, earlier this year, my office filed a brief to the Supreme Court urging them not to take up Chiles v. Salazar — a lawsuit challenging Colorado’s life-saving ban on so-called “conversion therapy” for minors.

ABC: Supreme Court weighs ban on 'conversion therapy' against counselors' free speech

But today, the Court is hearing oral arguments anyway. That makes it all the more urgent that we keep fighting for the dignity and safety of every child in Colorado. So I’m asking you to stand with me in that work by donating to my campaign for Governor today →

As I told ABC in my recent interview, making you feel bad about who you are, or pressuring you to be someone else is not legitimate therapy. The medical consensus is clear, that's why it's banned here in Colorado on a bipartisan basis — and in 25 other states.

This law allows children to be their best authentic selves, whatever it is. It doesn’t put a thumb on the scale either way. But by taking up this case today, the Supreme Court is once again putting fundamental rights at risk, leaving LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones across the country bracing for the impact of this court’s eventual decision.

Here’s what I believe: the best way to protect young people is to let them have their own identities, because no amount of shame, pressure, or coercion can change who they truly are. That’s why I’m fully committed to protecting all minors from these unscientific and harmful conversion practices.

If you’re with me, please, pitch in to my campaign for Governor today, and help me keep up the fight for the freedom of all Coloradans — of all ages — to live as their full, authentic selves

No matter how SCOTUS chooses to rule in this case, know this: I will always stand up to defend the rights and dignity of all LGBTQ+ Coloradans, regardless of the roadblocks thrown our way.

Thank you,

Phil
