Trump is once again trying to send the National Guard to Chicago.

He’s already using ICE to terrorize our neighborhoods — dragging families out of their homes in the dead of night, targeting immigrant communities, and sowing fear across Illinois. Now he wants to escalate. He wants troops in our streets.

This has never been about “law and order.” It’s about intimidation.

Trump is trying to normalize using the military against the American people. He’s trying to create chaos so he can turn fear into justification for authoritarian control.

That’s why the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago have filed a suit against his administration, calling his attempts to send troops into our state as “patently unlawful.” And they’re right. A federal judge already blocked the same move in Oregon.

This is yet another step in Trump’s escalating threats against our very democracy.

All of this is happening while our government is shut down due to Republican political games. They want to stop funding critical programs like affordable healthcare, food assistance, and other vital public services. But somehow, they have plenty of money to fund ICE raids, mass deportations, and militarized crackdowns on our own people.

This is cruelty by design. This is what happens when extremists run the government: they defund compassion and invest in fear.

We cannot allow Trump and his enablers to treat our communities like war zones.

We cannot accept troops patrolling our neighborhoods and ICE terrorizing our communities.

We will not let fascism win.
