Recently, the Trump administration threatened nine major universities across the country, demanding they sign a “compact” pledging to uphold Trump’s higher education priorities or risk losing preferred access to federal funding.
In other words, they want to end what they call “wokeism” by undermining the independence and freedom of America’s top educational institutions.
The universities targeted include:
USC, University of Texas, Brown University, MIT, Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, Vanderbilt, University of Virginia, and University of Arizona.
Yes, right here in our own state, the University of Arizona, one of the nation’s top research institutions , is being threatened with losing its educational freedom unless it bows to partisan political demands. There is no reason to believe it will stop there!
This is exactly why re-electing our Democratic Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State — and electing a Democrat to the Superintendent of Public Instruction’s office, is absolutely critical in 2026.
We need leaders who will stand up for our universities , not hand them over to MAGA Republicans. The University of Arizona alone ranks among the top 10 contributors to the medical community. Its research has saved thousands of lives for more than a century and all of that could be put at risk if Republicans take control of our state.
