The Trump administration’s attempted federal takeover of U.S. cities is reaching alarming new levels.
Under the guise of cracking down on a “crime emergency,” Trump took over D.C.’s police force and illegally sent troops to Los Angeles and Portland. In Chicago, federal immigration agents are acting like an invading army in Black and brown neighborhoods, using grenades, rappelling from Black Hawk helicopters, and going door to door to wake up residents in the middle of the night and restrain them with zip ties.
Worst of all, Trump has made it clear that he has no plans of stopping -- he’s already identified additional targets like Memphis, Baltimore, and New Orleans.
Make no mistake: The Trump administration’s strategy has nothing to do with stopping crime. It’s about normalizing federal control and intimidating Black and brown communities.
