This shutdown is not an accident. This is a direct assault on our Commonwealth. 

Washington Republicans shut down the federal government and left more than 200,000 Virginia federal workers and military families without paychecks. 

Trump has already stripped health care from hundreds of thousands, spiked premiums, and cheered on policies that put Virginia hospitals at risk. Now MAGA Republicans are making our workforce collateral damage in their chaos — and even threatening permanent firings.

Here’s what that looks like on the ground:

• Delayed pay for defense, military, and contractors
• Families already stretched thin are getting squeezed harder
• Communities are losing spending power as paychecks dry up

This isn’t about budgets. It’s about power. And Republicans are willing to use shutdowns as a weapon,  even if it means hurting Virginia’s economy and punishing our federal workforce.

Republicans in D.C. made their choice. Democrats in Virginia are making ours: defend and expand our Assembly majority so Virginians have leaders who will govern, not grandstand.
