A huge part of what the administration is doing in Chicago and Portland is based on propaganda and also creating propaganda.
Allegedly, Trump saw old videos of some of the protests in Portland from about 5 years ago and he was making decisions based on these old videos. And allegedly, the governor called Trump saying these videos that you're talking about aren't even contemporary.
But the reason that things like this are successful is because there's so much propaganda. It's not uncommon for very old videos to circulate and for people to claim that they are from the present day.
Some of it is just misinformation, it's people just not knowing that that's not true and amplifying it.
We see this happen all the time, especially in the fog of war. But now, with the National Guard, this is being used more and more as a technique.
Especially in times like these, it's very important to document these sites and cities to show that they are not the crazy scenes that this administration is trying to portray.
