MALA (Make Americans Last Again)

Today marks the 6th day of the Government Shutdown.

Currently, the Senate Democrats refuse to extend government operations with a short term funding bill for two principal reasons.

1. They demand free taxpayer Medicaid coverage for Illegal Aliens to create new dependent voters; and

2. They want to continue the Obamacare (ACA) subsidies

Both of those reasons show how the Democrats operate under the principle of Make Americans Last Again. It is the antithesis of America First and giving these subsidies puts Americans in Last Place.

It is beyond belief that the Democrats want to give free Medicaid (paid by taxpayers) to Illegal Aliens. They are non-citizens who have entered this country illegally but are being rewarded with free health insurance that has better coverage than what taxpaying Americans pay for.

An Illegal Alien on Medicaid gets free healthcare. THEY HAVE NO DEDUCTIBLE AND NO CO-PAYS AND FREE MEDICATION.

Other Benefits for Illegal Aliens on Medicaid:

They get to go to hospitals, Emergency Departments, urgent care, and medical offices as often as necessary without having to worry about out of pocket medical expenses, co-pays or deductibles. Better yet, no need to UBER to the hospital, they get free ambulance & ambulette services.

American citizens, with employer health plans, contribute to those plans with deductions from their paycheck. They have deductibles, meaning the first portion of their healthcare is out of pocket. Once they meet their deductibles which can run into the thousands of dollars per year they then have co-pays every time that they go to a physicians office, hospital or Emergency Department. Unlike illegal Aliens their healthcare is not free.

These deductibles and co-pays discourage the use of healthcare and unlike Illegal Aliens citizens have to think twice before undergoing healthcare treatments. There is no preventative care incentive either, unlike Medicaid which also promotes preventative care. MAHA works if you are an illegal.

For example someone experiencing chest pain may think twice about calling 911. If they are having a heart attack and time is of the essence a delay in care can be fatal.

Obamacare Subsidies

The Democrats in favor of the shutdown are in support of continuing Obamacare subsidies instead of coming up with an alternative. This results in Making Americans Sicker Again (MASA)

Real Life Obamacare Examples

An unsubsidized Bronze plan under the ACA would cost $2,203-$2,227 per month with an out of pocket max per household of between $14,000-$18,400 per family, a $6,000-$7,000 per person deductible up to the maximum family out of pocket max per household. Between the premiums and the deductibles you would be spending over $33,000 out of pocket for your healthcare before you would receive any insurance coverage for your costs.

This is a poorly designed healthcare plan. Preventative Care is not rewarded. With such high out of pocket expenses, patients with diabetes, heart disease and cancer would cannot seek preventative care that would lead to early diagnosis and early intervention as it is cost prohibited.

Chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and asthma will progress before diagnosis and treatment. The opportunity for preventive care, and early intervention with better outcomes would be lost. The early diagnosis and life saving benefits of catching cancer would be lost. Patients would suffer unnecessarily and often die because Obamacare plans discourage early diagnosis and treatment.

Rather than come up with a better healthcare plan that encourages early diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and asthma. A better plan should prioritize early detection and treatment of cancer.

Instead the Democrats want to perpetuate this poorly designed healthcare plan because they own it.

Neither one of these two reasons are justification for shutting the government down. Instead Democrats need to start to realize that when it comes to healthcare American Citizens come first; Illegal aliens should take a back seat to our American citizens.

A more cost effective prevention base healthcare plan must replace Obamacare.

The fact that the Democrats are supporting such folly tell you they are approving an America Last agenda as the Make Americans Last (place) Again.

Obamacare is only the tip of the iceberg regarding healthcare costs

Healthcare costs for Americans have risen dramatically, including copays, employee contributions, deductibles and total premium costs.

According to the KFF healthcare cost study:

• Average Annual Premiums for Family Coverage have risen from $5,791 dollars in 1999 to $25,572 in 2024.

• The Percentage of Covered Workers with Annual Deductibles of $2,000 or more have risen from 7% in 2009 to 32% in 2024

• Average Annual Worker Contribution to Healthcare Plans have risen from $1,619 in 2000 to $6,286 in 2024

• Average Annual Employer Contribution has risen from $4,819 in 2000 to $19,276 in 2024

These are astronomical changes which government actions have played a significant contributory role.

Yet the Democrats are silent on this issue.

Private Health Insurance vs. ObamaCare - Same Price but Private Sector has better benefits.

It is interesting that employer health insurance costs are similar to Obamacare costs, however employer plans are substantially better with lower deductibles, and better coverage. Why is it that employers can provide better coverage for the same costs as the government can provide under Obamacare. It does make you wonder why Americans who have to buy Obamacare are getting ripped off.

This is just another example of a bad Democrat policy by supporting Obamacare.
