This week, millions of Californians will open their mailboxes to find
something powerful: a ballot that could decide control of Congress next
year.
Ballots just dropped in California’s Prop 50 election, and voters have
just four weeks left to decide whether to temporarily redraw the state’s
congressional map ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Swing Left volunteers are working hard to turn out as many voters as

In Texas, Missouri, and elsewhere, Republicans are ripping up the rulebook
and gerrymandering congressional maps because they’re worried it's the
only way they can win a House majority next year.
They’ve given huge tax breaks to billionaires and gutted Medicaid and
other lifesaving programs. It's an agenda that’s deeply unpopular with
voters, and they know they’re in trouble unless they draw more safe
Republican seats.
California’s Proposition 50 is our best opportunity to offset the unfair
gains Republicans are making with this strategy, and they know it. It’s
why they’re dumping millions of dollars into defeating the ballot measure,
including $30 million from just one Trump-supporting billionaire alone.
A new poll shows 54% of California voters support the ballot measure, with
36% opposed. Other findings from the survey suggest California voters are
more persuaded by the Democratic case for Prop 50 than the GOP arguments
against it—but the key to winning will be turning them out to vote.
Collectively, Swing Left volunteers have already spent thousands of hours
calling voters to make sure they cast their ballots. Every call helps make
sure Californians understand what’s at stake, and your voice could be the
one that moves a ballot from the kitchen counter into the mailbox.
