The government has been shut down for almost a week now, and the GOP is still refusing to budge on Affordable Care Act subsidies.

In New York City alone, almost 1 million people receive subsidies through the ACA. It has been reported that when these subsidies expire, almost 200,000 New Yorkers will be impacted.

Without these subsidies, New Yorkers may see their premiums increase up to 40%. If Congress fails to extend them, New Yorkers will be priced out of their health insurance entirely.

This will lead to a sicker city and a sicker country.

While the GOP plays political games with our lives, the government is indefinitely shut down.
