No one is happy about the New York State Energy Plan—including several of the Indigenous Nations who have called this land home since time immemorial.  And today is the deadline to send a public comment in solidarity.

Today, New York is poised to invest in slow, costly, and dangerous nuclear energy while building out toxic industrial infrastructure that threatens Native lands and lifeways. We need you to send a letter to New York’s Energy Research and Development Authority to support the Tonawanda Seneca and Tuscarora Nations in calling for environmental justice in the New York State Energy Plan. 

Last week, New York State denied the request of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, Tuscarora Nation, and the Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force for an extension of the comment period for the Energy Plan. So, now we need to use the next few days to submit as many comments as possible to uplift their demands for key protections of their lands, lifeways, and sovereignty. 

The Nations are pushing back on big tech, the nuclear industry, and profit-driven economic development that comes at the expense of the land and future generations. Submit a letter today to say:

• No more nuclear energy.

• No more public dollars for private data centers.

• No more sacrificing Indigenous lands for corporate profits.
