Updates from D.C.

On October 1, the federal government shut down because Trump and Republicans would not agree to legislation that kept government open while lowering health care costs.

A government shutdown means that thousands of federal workers in Texas and across the country have been furloughed, our beautiful National Parks have been forced to close to visitors, and our troops and federal law enforcement are working without pay.

That is unacceptable.

I’ve been in Washington, ready to work on a bipartisan solution to reopen the government, but Speaker Mike Johnson has not called the House back for votes, meaning the House cannot vote to end the shutdown.

My office is open and available to assist you. If you need assistance, you can call my Dallas Office at (214) 922-8885 or my D.C. Office at (202) 225-8885.

Telephone Town Hall

Join me on Wednesday for a tele-town hall to discuss what this shutdown means and where we go from here. I’ll be answering your questions and making sure you have the information and resources you need.

From Epstein’s Secrets to Chicago’s Streets— Trump’s Corruption Runs Deep

In an MSNBC Weekend Primetime interview, I called out the rot in Trump’s administration—a government shutdown built on lies, Hatch Act violations splashed across federal websites, and a system protecting billionaires while everyday people pay the price.

Republicans are Using the Government Shutdown as a Distraction

In this interview, I laid out how Alex Acosta and the DOJ failed survivors, why the Epstein files must be released, and what’s at stake if Congress doesn’t act.

I called out Speaker Mike Johnson’s delay in swearing in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva, explained the discharge petition fight for 218 signatures, and warned how Trump and Republicans are using the government shutdown as a distraction.

Military Service Academy

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Congresswoman Crockett may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. To request a Service Academy Nomination from our office, visit: tx30.us/military.
