Dear John,
October marks the beginning of a new Supreme Court term -- and once again, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment for faith, freedom, and the future of our country.
Tomorrow, the Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments for a case you need to know about -- Chiles v. Salazar.
In this case, the state of Colorado is going after a Christian counselor named Kaley Chiles for doing what every Bible-believing counselor should do: offering truth, grounded in Scripture, to young people struggling with gender confusion.
Colorado has labeled her counsel "conversion therapy," denied any religious exemptions, and is now trying to silence her voice -- and by extension, every parent and grandparent concerned about the well-being of their children.
Make no mistake: this isn't just about Colorado. If they succeed, it sets a precedent that threatens every pastor, counselor, youth leader, and Christian parent in America.
Speaking the truth in love could soon become a punishable offense.
That's why Family Research Council has filed a joint amicus brief in this case based on the expert research of our Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Jennifer Bauwens. And we are praying for the attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom who will be delivering the oral arguments tomorrow before the Supreme Court.
If the Court rules in favor of Kaley Chiles, it will be a major step toward protecting free speech, defending religious freedom, and giving hurting people the opportunity to find true freedom in Christ.
Will you stand with FRC today as we work to defeat threats to religious liberty and defend biblical truth wherever the need arises?
Your support underwrites critical research, policy expertise, and biblical resources that allow us to speak into the courts, equip lawmakers, and expose the lies of gender ideology with the truth of God's design.
PROCLAIM THE TRUTH WITH FRC
We know the Court can get it wrong -- Roe v. Wade in 1973 led to the murder of millions of unborn children and Obergefell v. Hodges in 2015 twisted the definition of marriage in the eyes of millions of Americans.
But we also know that when we intercede by praying, voting, and standing, the Court can get it right.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court upheld Tennessee's SAFE Act -- a law based on model legislation FRC helped craft and pass in Arkansas in 2021, now adopted by 27 states.
This landmark law shields minors from irreversible gender transition procedures. In U.S. v. Skrmetti, the Court affirmed states' authority to block these dangerous and experimental treatments -- a monumental victory for truth, for families, and for children.
But Skrmetti isn't the only Supreme Court victory we've seen in recent years.
Look at Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. That decision was the result of nearly five decades of faithful perseverance -- of prayer warriors interceding, churches teaching the value of life, legal minds challenging injustice, and everyday believers refusing to grow weary in doing good.
Not only did FRC play a direct role in the long-term battle to get Roe overturned -- including using our long-standing influence in Washington, D.C. to make sure there was room on the Court for a strong originalist like Samuel Alito -- but since the fall of Roe, we've continued working to ensure life is protected.
From working tirelessly to keep your tax dollars out of Planned Parenthood's pockets, to sounding the alarm about the illegal mail-order abortion drug pipeline that other government leaders are turning a blind eye to, we've been on the frontlines of this battle from the beginning.
But even more importantly, the overturn of Roe reminds us that truth will always win in the end.
That's why FRC is standing boldly through our communication channels like Washington Watch, The Washington Stand, the Stand Firm app, and our policy research and publications that influence lawmakers and inform the public.
We will always refuse to cede any cultural or political ground to the lies of the enemy. Will you stand with us today?
STAND UNAPOLOGETICALLY WITH FRC
Most Americans don't give much thought to what happens when the Court gavels into session each October. They only tend to pay attention when the Court hands down their decisions in June.
But as believers, now is the moment when we need to have our eyes opened to the spiritual battle at hand and be in prayer as Supreme Court justices hear oral arguments and start writing their decisions.
Because as we've seen time and time again, these decisions affect life, marriage, religious freedom, and the future of our children -- and can chart the moral course of our nation for generations to come.
Even when opposed by media, government, corporate pressure, and academia, truth -- anchored in God's Word -- prevails when God's people stand together. That's the hope FRC carries into every battle.
As Scripture says in Micah 6:8, we are called to "do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God."
Let's stand together -- as a people committed to truth. Let's be the generation that did not shrink back. Let's show the world that the people of God are awake, engaged, and unafraid.
