Trump is daring the nation to let him get away with it. Let’s prove that we won’t.

Trump’s move to federalize state troops and deploy them in places like Portland and Chicago is a direct violation of our constitutional order, which bars using the military to police civilians except in cases of invasion or rebellion, especially from one state to another.

He’s doing it anyway — breaking the law, trampling norms, and daring the courts to stop him.

There is a sliver of good news: a federal judge blocked Trump’s attempt to send National Guard troops from Texas and California into Portland  — an outrageous maneuver to insert other states’ troops into Democratic-led cities. But the administration is appealing right now, trying to set a dangerous precedent.

Governors like JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom are calling these deployments what they are: invasions.

These aren’t security measures. They’re power grabs — designed to create chaos, justify crackdowns, and crush resistance.
