Roxana Tynan joined LAANE in 2001 and served as deputy director for six years until assuming the position of executive director in 2012. She is currently a Senior Advisor at LAANE and has been instrumental in the expansion of LAANE’s work and impact.
Roxana was a key force behind LAANE’s groundbreaking Community Benefits Program, which pioneered a new model for economic development in Los Angeles and across the country. She has also played a leading role in building LAANE’s organizing department, mentoring dozens of young organizers and creating one of the region’s most effective grassroots recruitment and advocacy programs.

The California Teachers Association (CTA) is a union of 310,000 public school educators across California, including teachers, counselors, psychologists, librarians, education support professionals, and other dedicated education workers serving public schools from kindergarten through community college.
Since its inception in 1863, CTA has driven key reforms, including state-funded community colleges, bilingual education, and collective bargaining rights for public employees. Through legislative advocacy, legal action, community organizing, and public campaigns, the California Teachers Association remains a powerful force for educators, students, and the future of public education.
