The House acted to continue government funding before the October 1, 2025 deadline. We passed a clean funding bill on September 19 with my support to maintain current funding levels without unrelated policy riders. But the Senate failed to act, causing a lapse in appropriations. As a result, many federal agencies cannot operate at full capacity. Core programs required by law—such as Social Security payments, Medicare, veterans’ health care, and mail delivery—continue, but other services may be slowed or temporarily unavailable.
I stand ready to restore funding in a responsible way that ensures the appropriations process moves forward through regular order. In the meantime, our office is open to help constituents navigate any issues with federal benefits or services during this shutdown. Click here for more resources.
