Team,
Last week, Trump crossed a bright red line that should infuriate anyone who is a Patriot and loves our Constitution and our democracy.
Gathering our generals and national security leaders from around the world in an overtly political way, pulling them away from their critical missions, threatening to deploy U.S. troops against our own citizens in American cities, and calling our cities—including New York—training grounds for U.S. troops; are the most un-patriotic, unconstitutional, and un-American things I have seen a Commander in Chief do in my lifetime. I could not let that stand.
I wanted to share with you what I’ve been doing to strongly push back, and to ask your help to join the fight:
I posted my full thoughts on Twitter and on Instagram, which has gotten a significant response and has been seen by nearly 3 million people. Please help share & amplify.
I led a letter of 25 House Democratic veterans condemning Trump and Hegseth’s rhetoric. I did not risk my life, 27 months in combat, to come and see U.S. troops in my own city or my own state. As freedom-loving patriots, we must stand up and fight back. I also did an interview on the Raging Moderates podcast, making sure that we stay on offense in digital media.
On my recent CNN appearance, I noted the words of General Mark Milley, that we don’t take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution, and we take an oath to the idea that is America, and we’re willing to die to protect it. That American idea is at serious risk right now. We must all do what we can to protect it—the stakes are too high to do anything else.
Thank you for your support, and I’ll continue to keep up the fight and keep you informed.
In service,
Pat Ryan
