Hi John,
Our veterans kept their promise to serve America’s interests, no matter what the cost.
Concerned Veterans for America knows America is a better place when veterans have a choice in where they use the VA health care benefits they’ve earned, whether at the VA or through community care. We believe choice is a fundamentally better approach to veterans’ care than one directed by bureaucrats.
As it turns out, new polling indicates a majority of Americans support this premise. A recent CVA/YouGov poll that surveyed veterans, military family members, and the general public shows support for permanent access to community care is over 70% across all these segments. | | These results aren’t surprising; veterans and military families have consistently said they prefer to utilize the provider that best meets their needs rather than be directed by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The VA has a history of long wait times for care along with a clearly demonstrated trend of bureaucrats manipulating reporting of those delays in care. Veterans face inconsistent guidelines for access to out-of-network care, and uncertainty about claims.
This is unacceptable, and the Veterans’ ACCESS Act would fix these deficiencies. It would make the access standards permanent federal law and require the VA to enforce the MISSION Act. Further provisions create a new mental health pilot program, require the VA to discuss telehealth choices with veterans, and standardize the referral process for veterans seeking mental health care. | | | | |
| Veterans deserve better. They deserve the best and most accessible treatment options available. With Veterans Day right around the corner, Congress should pass the Veterans’ ACCESS Act. | In service, | | John Byrnes Strategic Director Concerned Veterans for America | | | | |
