Hello John,
Canvassing continues as we begin to reach out to more voters across the county. We’re talking to Democrat supporters some of whom may have skipped a primary or earlier election. In other words, paying attention to elections with all the other things in their busy lives may not be a top priority. They may need a bit of education — not only WHY to vote YES on Prop 50 but also HOW to vote now.
WHY: We must use democracy to save democracy. We cannot let Trump rig the next congress, so California is asking its voters to support a temporary redistricting plan to enable a fair election in 2026. We must vote YES to have any chance to vote for a Congress that will use its Constitutional powers to check Trump’s authoritarian overreach.
HOW: We don’t want folks to wait until the last minute and have to go searching through stacks of mail to find the ballot. This is a SIMPLE one-issue ballot, so find that ballot, check the YES box, sign the envelope and mail it today or drop it off. DONE!
VOTE NOW: You can model this behavior in your house and make sure everyone in your household sends theirs in this week. Make sure your friends and neighbors know the ballots have arrived, so they, too, can vote YES and check that off their task list.
It’s going to take all of our grassroots power to win this.

The facts for voters:
- Redistricting is in response to Trump’s overreach to try to rig elections.
- In CA, the voters decide on the new districts.
- California is calling on all states to use an independent commission to set district maps.
- Redistricting is temporary. California returns to its commission based approach using the 2030 census.
