What is an ADU?
Sometimes called an “in-law apartment,” an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a small residential living space located on the same lot as another home. ADUs can play a significant role in our housing shortage, which is why they were made legal in every corner of the Commonwealth as part of the landmark Affordable Homes Act that Governor Healey signed into law last year.
