Trump boasts he's the "best physical specimen" among recent presidents in wild speech at Naval station

Imagine being so vainglorious, insecure, and divorced from reality you stand before 10,000 captive sailors — who you currently aren't paying — and waste their time bragging about your supposedly superior physical attributes. The 79-year-old con man, who famously dodged military service during Vietnam and was recently bested by an escalator, was thanking various dignitaries when he laid eyes on Rep. Ronny Jackson and veered off script, blurting out, "A man that everybody loves — he was my doctor in the White House and I got to know him very well. He was also the doctor for Barack Hussein Obama. Have you heard of him? He was a doctor for a man named Bush. And at a press conference they asked him, 'Who’s in the best shape, who’s the healthiest, who’s the strongest, who’s the best physical specimen of the three?' He said, 'That’s easy. President Donald Trump!' And I said, 'I love this guy!'" You cannot make this stuff up.

Take Action: Don't put Trump on Mt. Rushmore!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump makes unhinged announcement in escalating war on American cities

In his desperation to justify sending federal troops into yet another American city to crack down on citizens exercising their constitutional right to protest, America's fascist ignoramus-in-chief is literally playing make believe. Trump told reporters outside the White House that Portland is "burning to the ground" and claimed, without a shred of evidence, that the city's leaders are "afraid for their lives...that's the only reason that they say, like, 'there's nothing happening.'" Buried in the gobbledygook was a curious and clearly intentional comment about "insurrectionists all over the place" in Portland. Any constitutional buffs out there will know that, in court, a president must be able to justify a domestic deployment of the US military. And, wouldn't you know it, an actual rebellion or insurrection would suffice. We call it fascism because it is fascism.

Top scientist takes on the GOP's crusade of ignorance

Jasmine Clark for Georgia: Trump, RFK Jr., and the rest of their cronies in Congress have taken a chainsaw to our scientific research, public health, and climate initatives and are waging an all out-war on science and the truth. PhD scientist Dr. Jasmine Clark has had enough, and she's running for Congress in order to restore sanity to the government and make America a global leader in scientific development once again. Will you chip in to help jump-start her campaign and flip the House blue?

Trump shreds Fox News and Peter Doocy over interview with Senate Democrat — demands Fox "get on Board or get off board NOW"
America's wannabe dictator is screaming all the quiet parts out loud at this point, demanding undying fealty and total capitulation from right-wing news organizations that are, quite honestly, already cogs in his propaganda machine. That Trump is comfortable publicly threatening an entire news agency to fall in line or else and castigating "journalists" for the crime of interviewing Democratic senators tells you all you need to know about how he views his authoritarian presidency. Lord Goldemort won't stop till he's fitted for a crown and scepter.

Take Action: End corporations' predatory surveillance pricing!

Trump and Republicans are being blamed more than Democrats for government shutdown, early polling finds
Funny thing about optics. When you control the executive branch and both chambers of the legislative branch and "govern" with the grace and deftness of a temper-tantruming toddler, a public paying even casual attention tends to notice. Donald and his MAGA minions can kick and scream all they want (and they have!), but the current government shutdown is a mess entirely of their own making. There is an easy and very obvious exit ramp they can take at anytime — join Democrats in extending healthcare subsidies for millions of vulnerable Americans in BOTH red and blue states whose premiums are set to skyrocket imminently — but doing so requires admitting they were wrong in the first place. And anyone who's tried reasoning with a rampaging 4-year-old knows just how unlikely a proposition that is.

Trump slams federal judge, whom he appointed, for blocking National Guard deployment in Portland

America's wannabe dictator slammed District Judge Karin Immergut, whom he appointed, for blocking his obviously unconstitutional order to deploy National Guard troops to Portland to stop what the president has laughably called "lawless mayhem." In a ruling issued Saturday, Immergut said the relatively small protests in Portland did not justify the use of federalized forces and allowing the deployment to harm Oregon’s state sovereignty. As usual, the buck stops literally anywhere except with Trump. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Donald complained, "I wasn't served well by the people who pick judges. I appointed the judge, and it goes like that. If he made that decision, Portland is burning to the ground… all you have to do is look at the TV and read your newspapers. That judge ought to be ashamed of himself." In her ruling Immergut, who is, in fact, not a man, wrote: "This country has a longstanding and foundational tradition of resistance to government overreach, especially in the form of military intrusion into civil affairs. This historical tradition boils down to a simple proposition: this is a nation of Constitutional law, not martial law." She continued, "The president’s determination was simply untethered to the facts." An evergreen statement if ever there was one.

Trump urges FCC to "look into" NBC, claims Comcast "afraid" to cancel Al Sharpton's show
Donald Trump's comically unconstitutional campaign weaponizing the FCC against television personalities he does not like is showing no signs of slowing down, despite the recent ABC-Jimmy Kimmel debacle blowing up in his face. The MAGA cult leader's latest target, the Rev. Al Sharpton, hosts a show called PoliticsNation on MSNBC. If you are not Donald Trump and basic facts matter to you, it's important to note that MSNBC is not NBC and is currently being spun off by Comcast into separate company altogether. If you are Donald Trump and cannot separate truth from wild fiction, then bombs away against yet another national network, we guess. In a petty, meandering rant about Sharpton, the wannabe dictator suggested with all the class of a B-movie mafioso extra that the FCC should "look into" repealing NBC's broadcast license because "97%" of their coverage of Republicans is supposedly negative. Nice broadcast license ya got there. Be a shame if something happened to it. 🙄

Illinois is investigating after ICE raid left "nearly naked" children zip-tied, Gov. JB Pritzker says
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is directing state agencies to investigate the unconscionable treatment of children involved in a recent Trump regime immigration raid after witnesses claimed children in a Chicago apartment building were zip-tied, separated from parents, and detained for several hours. Children! Witnesses told WBEZ Chicago and the Chicago Sun Times that heavily armed agents arrived at the five-story building late Friday night with U-Hauls and broke down residents’ doors, dragging them out of bed. Pritzker responded, "Imagine being a child awakened in the middle of the night by a Black Hawk helicopter landing in your neighborhood. Imagine an armed stranger forcibly removing you from your bed, zip-tying your hands, separating you from your family, and detaining you in a dark van for hours. This didn't happen in a country with an authoritarian regime — it happened here in Chicago." Uh, you might wanna rethink that one, JB. An authoritarian regime, by any other name, would smell as foul.

South Carolina judge's home burns to ground after ruling against Trump
The home of South Carolina Judge Diane Goodstein, who serves on the state Circuit Court, was destroyed after an explosion turned the three-story beachfront property into a fireball. Goodstein's husband, former Democratic state Senator Arnold Goodstein, was among those seriously injured after he reportedly jumped from the house and had to be rescued from a marshy area behind the property, a neighbor said. While authorities have not yet determined the cause of the blaze, it has sparked conversation about online hostility toward members of the judiciary who rule against Trump and his allies. Judge Goodstein issued a ruling last month temporarily blocking South Carolina from handing over millions of voters’ personal data to the Trump administration, drawing predictable criticism from familiar MAGA voices, including Stephen Miller, who just this weekend accused "far-left Democrat judges" of shielding a "large and growing movement of leftwing terrorism in this country." Please someone remind us again what we should be doing with the incendiary rhetoric?

Christian activist group "deceived" Supreme Court about LGBTQ+ research, cited scholars say
On Tuesday, a far-right Christian legal group will urge the Supreme Court to overturn a ban on anti-LGBTQ+ "conversion therapy" in a case that could erode protections for transgender and queer youth across the country. Lawyers from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), which has relentlessly opposed abortion and LGBTQ+ rights in high-profile litigation, are representing a woman challenging a 2019 Colorado law that prohibited conversion practices for youth under age 18. The ban applies to licensed clinicians who seek to change a patient’s sexual orientation or gender identity, tactics medical groups have repeatedly discredited as harmful and ineffective. ADF’s petition in the case, Chiles vs. Salazar, cited several scholars to support its argument that conversion practices should once again be permitted. Two of those experts, however, told The Guardian that ADF had "profoundly" misrepresented their research, which discussed the "psychological damage" of conversion therapy.
