John,
I’m proud to announce that I’m running for Congress in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. St. Louis needs leaders who won't fail or take orders from billionaires. Would you consider splitting a donation between Democratic Values and mine today?
I never imagined I’d be in politics. I’m the daughter of a union meat-cutter, a nurse for over a decade, a pastor, a survivor of gun violence, and a formerly unhoused single mom. I know the struggle of families who work hard and still get left out.
My fight began on the streets of Ferguson, where I stood day after day demanding justice and caring for my neighbors after Michael Brown was killed.
That’s what shaped me. That’s what brought me into this work. When my community asked me to run, together we defeated a 52-year dynasty and proved that regular people, not corporations or megadonors, could win. That’s why I ran in the first place—and why I’m stepping up again.
As you read this, families and communities are being squeezed here in St. Louis. Groceries, rent, and utilities keep climbing, while wages stay the same. Violence, division, and attacks on our rights are pushing us to the breaking point.
But here’s what I know: St. Louis is built different. And so am I.
When you sent me to Washington, we moved resources home and stood up when it mattered most: from holding the first post-pandemic hearing on Medicare for All, to sleeping on the Capitol steps to extend the federal eviction moratorium, standing up for our neighbors after floods and disasters, and fighting for lower insulin prices. That’s what service looks like: helping people where they are.
This campaign isn’t about politics; it’s about the future of St. Louis and the special interests trying to take it away. There’s a lot at stake. Trump and his buddies are stripping away our rights, attacking our communities, and rigging the rules to benefit the wealthy and powerful. Our most vulnerable will pay the price.
So, we need a fighter who truly represents us.
I stand with the people. I don’t wait for permission. I rise when it’s hardest. Now, I’m running again to keep fighting for us. Can I count on you to become a founding donor by splitting a donation between Democratic Values and my campaign today?
In solidarity,
Cori Bush
