In the official ranking of states based on women in government, Tennessee ranks 46th out of 50 states. Tennessee has nine House seats in Washington – only one is occupied by a woman.

Additionally, in Tennessee, Black women are nearly three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women — most of them preventable. TN ranks among the bottom nationally for maternal health outcomes, and the women in TN are living under a near-total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.

It’s dangerous to be a woman in Tennessee, and Aftyn has been doing everything she possibly can to change that. She needs to raise an additional $10,000 before her primary election on Tuesday to reach as many voters as possible and advance to the General Election later this year.
