Fall is a season of reflection and progress. This month, we’re turning the spotlight on research, the driving force behind breakthroughs that bring us closer to better treatments and a deeper understanding of Parkinson’s. From exploring new drug possibilities, to uncovering insights about daily experiences, research continues to shape the future for people living with Parkinson’s across Canada. Together, we are making discoveries possible.

Get involved in research

Advancements in research are possible with the support of people living with Parkinson’s, their care partners, volunteers, and donors. Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Kanta Marwah, the new Kanta Marwah Research Innovation Fund will support projects that address unmet needs and help bring discoveries from the lab to the clinic. There are many ways you can take part, from participating in studies to joining clinical trials or workshops that help advance the research that improves lives. Together, we can drive progress and make a real difference for the Parkinson’s community.

In the spotlight

Dr. Veronica Bruno, supported through Parkinson Canada’s Research Grant Competition, is leading studies on women’s health and Parkinson’s. Her research highlights overlooked symptoms and care gaps, bringing us closer to more inclusive treatments and support. "These aren’t just social issues,” she says. “They are a vital area of scientific research.” Discover more stories like hers, including the work of Dr. Daryl Wile, on our socials.
