The very fate of our Democracy and the electoral future of the Democratic party rests upon a Democratic victory in the sleepy and often overlooked 2025 Pennsylvania Supreme Court Retention Election. 

If we lose this court, MAGA will seize control of Pennsylvania and will implement an extreme abortion ban, redistrict the PA congressional map making it blood red, and rig the ‘26 midterms and ‘28 presidential in the penultimate swing state - 19 electoral college votes down the drain. 

Republicans pulled off a shocking lightning breakthrough last month and early polling now shows that a catastrophic loss is exactly what Democrats are on track for. These three factors explain why the GOP is winning: 

1.) Voter registration - over the Summer, the Pennsylvania GOP shrunk the million voter registration gap that Democrats once held over Republicans to just a 50,000 vote lead. If these trends continue they will surpass Democrats before our November 4th Election Day. 

2.) Spending - bankrolled by the likes of Jeff Yass, the richest man in Pennsylvania, Elon Musk, and Tristan Tate, accused human trafficker and brother of masculinity influencer Andrew Tate, the GOP effort to seize this court boasts a 10-1 spending advantage over Democrats. 

3.) Voter Persuasion - because of their spending advantage Republicans are flooding airwaves, mailboxes, and social media, with disinformation. The Democratic persuasion program is overextended and struggling to contain the GOPs massive breakthrough with has no resources to go on the offensive.

There is however a tangible path for Democrats to regain our advantage on each of these fronts and mount a comeback. 

Defend our Courts, the Democratic organization coordinating the defense of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s liberal majority, is working to contest the GOP on each of these fronts but we need to rapidly scale our program in the remaining 30 days until election day. 

The short runway and millions that will be required to salvage this race may seem daunting but our movement has done it in the past and we can do it again. 

In 2021 millions of Democrats from across the nation poured in small dollar donations to support Senators Ossoff and Warnock pull off stunning victories in the Georgia Senate runoffs. And in Spring 2025, Dems rallied around the Wisconsin State Supreme Court race, a race with near identical stakes to ours, and successfully outraised and defeated Elon Musk and MAGA. 

This is a desperate call for all Democrats to come to rally around Pennsylvania like we did Georgia and Wisconsin.
