Dear John,
In this week's newsletter, navigating the Schumer Shutdown, recognizing our manufacturers in the 16th District, and my stops prior to the government shutdown. If you need help with federal agencies, please reach out to one of my offices listed at the bottom of the newsletter.
The Schumer Shutdown
On Tuesday night, Senate Democrats decided to put critical services for the American people at risk and launch us into the Schumer Shutdown.
Democrats supported 13 separate Continuing Resolutions under the Biden Administration. Now that Trump is in office, Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats are blocking a clean CR and holding the government hostage in a desperate attempt to appease the far-left wing of their party.
They need to put politics aside and support the clean CR House Republicans passed over two weeks ago.
If you have questions on how the ongoing shutdown may impact your federal benefits and other programs, please don’t hesitate to contact my office.

Hosting a Service Academy Night in Peoria
One of the greatest privileges I have is nominating exceptional young men and women to attend our prestigious service academies and serve our nation!
Thank you to Peoria’s 182nd Airlift Wing for hosting our Service Academy Night and giving prospective students a chance to learn more about how to pursue this service.

National Manufacturing Day
Manufacturers across the 16th District play a vital role in driving economic growth and creating opportunities for our communities.
These hardworking men and women innovate and create products that support anything and everything from the aerospace industry to local municipal projects.
Touring Teleweld
A safe and reliable rail network keeps our supply chain efficient and products moving throughout the 16th District and the United States.
I enjoyed visiting Teleweld in Streator to learn more about their manufacturing process and work to increase passenger safety and bolster US railways.
Meeting with FMC Employees
I stopped by FMC’s plant in Wyoming to learn more about their mission to support our farmers and become a leader in the precision ag sector.
I enjoyed speaking with their employees about my work to strengthen agriculture and manufacturing in the 16th District.
Speaking at the Annual Illinois Sheriffs' Association Conference
The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association plays an essential role in upholding the rule of law, supporting our police officers, and protecting our communities.
It was an honor to speak at their annual conference in East Peoria to recognize their dedication and the sacrifices they make to ensure the safety of families across Illinois.
I will always Back the Blue!
Visiting Forest City Gear
It was great to tour Forest City Gear in Roscoe to get a firsthand look at their innovative work that supports industries ranging from medical to aerospace.
I appreciate their President, Kika Young, for hosting me and discussing how Republicans' Working Families Tax Cuts benefits their business and employees.
One More Thing: Remembering Ryan Whitehouse
I was heartbroken to hear of the tragic passing of Ryan Whitehouse.

He was an extraordinary leader whose life of advocacy made a lasting impact on countless Illinoisans. His dedication to helping others, his leadership, and his friendship will be greatly missed.
