At 12:00 AM on October 1, funding for the federal government expired, leading to a government shutdown.
Though I voted to keep our government open on a bipartisan basis, legislation to extend government funding is stalled in the U.S. Senate. Congress' core responsibility is to deliver an annual budget, and failure to take action is completely unacceptable.
Through my role on the House Appropriations Committee, I have worked hard all year to draft and pass 12 out of 12 funding bills to sustain our nation's funding priorities. I will continue urging my colleagues to get these bills signed into law and avoid further lapses in government funding.
In the meantime, I understand the shutdown can be a challenge for families across TX-23. Please know that my offices will remain open, and we will continue to respond to your messages, emails, and phone calls. Please reach out to my San Antonio or Washington, D.C. phone number with any questions or concerns.
