On Sunday, I was on NBC's Meet the Press to talk about Donald Trump's cruel immigration policies.
We need to make one thing abundantly clear: whenever someone from Trump's administration says the reports about mistreatment of children and families, about family separation, any of it is untrue or unsubstantiated -- that's just false.
I've seen it with my own eyes, but you don't have to take my word for it. The Department of Homeland Security's own Inspector General found that children weren't given hot meals until inspectors showed up. They reported that "At one facility, some single adults were held in standing-room-only conditions for a week."
There is a rot at the core of our country, a great evil being carried out in our names.
As I told Chuck Todd, if the American people could see it for themselves, every single one of us would be horrified:

The Trump administration's treatment of children, of refugees, of families seeking legal asylum is a generational evil, a cruelty that we may never live down. Right now, they're building the largest child prison in American history.
Here's how we start to make it right: continue to shine a light on what's happening, support the victims in every way we can, make sure people are aware of what's happening, and then work to vote out each and every politician who shares responsibility for this crisis.
Watch the video of my appearance on Meet the Press and let's talk about the next steps to end Donald Trump's cruel immigration policies.
