John,
The curtain has been pulled back on Greg Abbott's corruption, and what's exposed is a blatant scheme of pay-to-play politics that uses your tax dollars to reward his wealthiest donors.
A new report from Public Citizen exposes the rot at the heart of his machine, finding a clear pattern where the Governor’s PAC donors were directly rewarded with massive, non-competitive contracts:
Companies, owners, and executives who donated heavily to the Texans for Greg Abbott PAC received non-competitive, emergency contracts—some worth tens of millions of dollars—tied to state-wide disasters like COVID-19, hurricanes, or border security.
In one shocking instance, a contributor received two contracts worth $1,676,100 that were simply labeled as "fees," with no public oversight.
This is how corruption works: massive corporate donations unlock millions in taxpayer money. This system of self-dealing proves who truly owns Texas politics—and it's not the people.
But here’s the good news: We are the counter-movement, and it starts with you.
At Ground Game Texas, we are building a force in this state capable of challenging this entrenched, secretive corruption: a progressive, people-powered movement built from the neighborhood up.
While Abbott's allies make back-room deals and cash in on taxpayer funds, we are showing up, organizing voters, and winning real policy battles—like campaign finance reform and marijuana decriminalization—that directly improve the lives of working Texans. We don't need corporate checks; we need neighbors talking to neighbors, and that takes resources.
Every dollar we raise goes directly into the ground game:
Training: Empowering local leaders to run for office and advocate for lasting progressive change.
Organizing: Funding the staff who power our local campaigns across the entire state.
Community Outreach: Ensuring every Texan knows their power and gets to the polls to hold the corrupt accountable.
Will you stand with Ground Game Texas today and chip in $25, $50, or whatever you can afford? Let’s use the truth about their corruption to fuel a massive surge of grassroots funding and show Abbott and his cronies that the people of Texas are organized, watching, and ready to win.
In solidarity,
The Ground Game Texas Team
