When I was growing up, I helped run my family’s small business.

It wasn’t glamorous work, but it taught me what so many Mainers already know: nothing is handed to you. Running a successful business takes hard work, determination, and support from your community.

Small businesses are the backbone of Maine’s economy — making up more than half of the jobs here. From lobster boats and dairy farms to family-run shops, small businesses are what keep Maine strong.

That’s why in Congress, I’ve made it a priority to stand up for Maine’s small businesses by improving our infrastructure, expanding access to high-speed internet in rural communities, helping small businesses compete for federal contracts, and building a skilled workforce through apprenticeship and training programs.

I know firsthand the challenges small business owners face, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure they have the tools they need to succeed.
