JANE IN THE NEWS

🗣️ Jane Fonda and Attorney General Rob Bonta at Climate Week 🗣️

Jane joined JanePAC-endorsed climate champion California Attorney General Rob Bonta at Climate Week NYC 2025 for a powerful conversation about taking on Big Oil through the courts and mobilizing collective action.

Bonta broke down his office's lawsuits pushing back against fossil fuel giants and reversing Trump-era rollbacks, while Jane made the case that we can't win the climate fight without protecting democracy.

Their powerful message resonated across social media and reinforced a critical truth: real climate action requires both grassroots organizing and holding polluters accountable in court.

Climate Week wasn’t the only place Jane made headlines last month. She also hit the runway at L’Oréal Paris’s “You’re Worth It” Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week, bringing her signature activism and energy to one of fashion’s biggest stages.

When asked about shifting from activism to electoral work, Jane explained why she founded JanePAC after years of protesting, lobbying, and even getting arrested without seeing change at the scale science demands:

“We weren’t getting it. And we realized the reason is that so many people elected to office in Washington take money from the fossil fuel industry, and so we thought: well, if you can’t change the people, CHANGE the people. So we started the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, and we elect climate champions all over the country.”

MAJOR CLIMATE WIN

History was made on September 23rd when JanePAC-endorsed climate champion Adelita Grijalva won her special election for Arizona’s 7th Congressional District, becoming the first Latina ever elected to Congress from Arizona.

Adelita has been a progressive leader for over two decades. As Pima County Supervisor, she protected thousands of acres of open space, demanded justice for communities left behind, and stood up for tribal sovereignty.

Now, she's taking that same fearless fight to Washington, continuing the legacy of her late father, Congressman Raúl Grijalva. Adelita's win proves that when we invest in bold leaders who refuse to back down, we can make history.

ADVOCACY & ORGANIZING UPDATE

The JanePAC Advocacy team was hard at work this month. After Trump’s FCC tried to pressure ABC into silencing Jimmy Kimmel, the JanePAC Advocacy Team joined millions of people across the country to fight back. We sent over 9,300 letters to ABC and Nexstar executives to demand that they protect freedom of expression from the attacks of this administration, and we won! ABC quickly put Jimmy Kimmel Live back on the air, and Nexstar has officially stopped preempting the show on its affiliate stations.

Meanwhile, the JanePAC Organizing team is firing on all cylinders. Between now and Election Day, volunteers in states across the country are knocking doors, calling voters, and more to help elect climate champions at every level. Click here to find out more about how you can get involved!

NECESSARY READING

Want to know who's polluting your community? A new interactive map from Climate TRACE — a nonprofit coalition partly funded by former Vice President Al Gore — tracks air pollution and identifies the biggest polluters in 2,500 urban areas worldwide.

The tool reveals everything from power plants to shipping ports that are pumping dangerous PM2.5 pollutants and greenhouse gases into the air.

“PM2.5 exposure over time can prove lethal to individuals with preexisting conditions like asthma or cardiovascular illness, along with very young or elderly individuals… Such pollutants are responsible for nearly 9 million deaths per year globally, studies show.”

💚 REMEMBERING DR. JANE GOODALL

Jane with Dr. Goodall

This week, we lost a giant. The profound legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall reminds us that empathy and paying attention to the world around us can shift our whole, wild world.

Her groundbreaking work with chimps revealed the intimate lives of our genetic fellows, forever changing how we view animal intelligence and our place in the natural world. Through the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots, she inspired global action for conservation, and maybe more critically, for compassion.

Her gentle wisdom will be missed, her work will be remembered, and she will remain deeply loved by all who care for the planet and the beings on it — even in her absence.
