"I wouldn't have been able to do it without you!" - Cindy, emergency funds recipient

Dear John,

When Cindy walked into the Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA) Family Resource Center in early May, tears rolled down her cheeks. The single mother of two was desperate. She had just lost her job at a restaurant due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and, because her car was not running, she didn’t have the transportation needed to look for another job. Without income, she would be forced to move out of the home that she had recently rented for herself and her two young children, leaving them homeless. She felt things couldn’t get any worse.

 

Cindy’s first concern was finding secure and safe housing for her family. Working with one of our Family Support Coaches, Cindy was able to qualify for emergency funds that allowed her to remain in her home. These funds also helped her make repairs to her car. Once her car was running again, she began looking for a new job and quickly secured one.

 

On her first day at her new job, Cindy texted her Family Success Coach saying, “I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. You don't understand how happy I am. I really appreciate you putting so much effort into helping!”  We were thrilled to be able to help Cindy and her family and we couldn’t have done it without the generous support of people like you.

 

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, many more families are needing a helping hand to get back on their feet and we are running low on emergency funds like the ones used to help Cindy. This is where YOU can help!
