The Trump administration just told Congress the U.S. is in a formal “armed conflict” with drug cartels — a move legal experts call an abuse that shreds the law of war. Why do that? Because once Trump calls it “war,” he will claim wartime powers at home: secret strikes, indefinite detentions, and a domestic “enemy” defined by the president.

We’re already seeing how they intend to use it:

Chicago: pre-dawn, militarized raids on an apartment building — helicopters, armored vehicles, mass zip-ties, kids hauled into the street.
Portland: Trump is sending the military back into the city.
Beefing up ICE — more agents, more raids, more intimidation.
