Dear John,

This past week, Wildlands Network celebrated a huge milestone in our efforts to secure protection for wildlife corridors in the United States! The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Wildlife Corridors Conservation Act as part of a package designed to help America move forward from the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic. The legislation also includes $300 million in funding for infrastructure projects to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions on America’s highways, and will stimulate the U.S. economy in a way that works for both people and wildlife.

"From elk to grizzlies to the beautiful monarch butterfly, wildlife needs to move across the landscape to survive. In the face of climate change, protecting wildlife corridors will ensure our wildlife will survive for generations to come," said Susan Holmes, our federal policy director.

Across federal agencies and Congressional offices, we are seeing a groundswell of support for identifying and protecting landscapes for wildlife movement and migration. There is broad recognition that this science-based approach to conservation is a critical piece of the puzzle for addressing both the climate and biodiversity crises facing this continent.

Please consider supporting our work to protect wildlife corridors across North America with a gift today.

For the wild,

Katie Davis,
Executive Director
