This week, I flew to Washington ready to keep the government open. Instead, Trump and Republicans made it clear: they’d rather shut the government down and let your health insurance costs spike.

Angelenos are opening their mail right now and seeing their health insurance bills jump by hundreds a month, thousands a year. That’s grocery money, rent money, childcare money — gone. We have a fix: extend the ACA tax credits that cut your premiums and save you money.

I’m standing firm. This fight is about protecting working people by lowering their costs.

Flew to Washington to Keep the Government Open

As families worry about paying more for their healthcare or losing it because it’s too expensive, Trump and Republicans refuse to do their job: fund the government and extend these critical healthcare tax credits.

Right now, millions of Americans are opening notices saying that their premiums are doubling. The truth is that when working families pay more, it frees up Trump and Republicans’ budget to hand more tax breaks to billionaires. They’ve pulled this scam before. And they’re at it again.

I won’t rubber-stamp a Trump and Republican bill that makes healthcare less accessible and more expensive.

Stood United with Democrats on the House Floor

I joined my fellow Democrats on the House floor ready to keep the government open. Trump and Republicans? They canceled votes on the very day the government shut down.

While Democrats fight to protect families from crushing healthcare costs, Trump and Republicans let your costs rise so they can shovel cash to the ultra-wealthy through their Big Billionaire Bill. That’s their playbook. Our job is to stall and stop it.

Condemned Trump for Pitting Our Military against U.S. Citizens

This week, Trump called American citizens “the enemy within,” encouraging the men and women of the armed forces to use OUR cities as military training grounds. This is illegal and dangerous. It's time to put aside our differences and come together to oppose Trump's unconstitutional abuse of power.
