A Big Step Forward for Religious Freedom in Minnesota!
This morning, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Carl and Angel Larsen, St. Cloud videographers whose right to tell stories that reflect their deeply-held religious beliefs was thrown into question after a district court decision last year, can now proceed in their battle.
This is great news for religious freedom! The Larsens, who were featured guests at our COURAGE TO STAND event earlier this year, are not just ordinary videographers. They want to tell a story with each video they create - and they want to honor God in the process. But under Minnesota’s draconian “anti-discrimination laws” they could face jail time if they choose not to film same-sex weddings!
That’s why the Larsens challenged the Minnesota Department of Human Rights in Court, and today the 8th Circuit ruled that their lawsuit has merit and can proceed. The legal road is long, but we’re rejoicing with the Larsens - their courage to stand up for what they believe is being rewarded!
Please join us in thanking God for this ruling, and for the freedom of religion we enjoy, the “first freedom” on which all our freedoms depend!

The Facts About Making Abortion Illegal
Perhaps you’ve seen the coat-hanger pins worn by abortion activists, communicating that if abortion were to become illegal, there would be a dramatic increase in unsafe, back-alley abortions. But is this really the case? What will happen when abortion becomes illegal?
Many abortion activists would have us all believe that the result would be terrifying. Take, for example, the alarmist picture painted by Time:
Once that wave of 19th century abortion bans went into effect, police and prosecutors threatened, arrested, interrogated, investigated and occasionally prosecuted women for the crime of abortion. Police and doctors routinely questioned women who miscarried to determine if they’d had an abortion. If the patient refused to answer, the doctor might refuse lifesaving treatment for the complications that can follow abortions when the procedure is poorly performed.
Similarly, former president of Planned Parenthood Leana Wen claimed in May that thousands of women died every year from illegal abortions prior to Roe v. Wade. The Washington Post responded to this claim, giving it four “Pinocchio’s” in their fact check and pointing out, “These numbers were debunked in 1969 — 50 years ago — by a statistician celebrated by Planned Parenthood. There’s no reason to use them today.”

The Impact of Social Justice on the Gospel (Free Event - September 15th)

Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM Grace Church (Chapel), Eden Prairie
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
“It’s my conviction that much of the rhetoric about this latest issue [social justice] poses a more imminent and dangerous threat to the clarity and centrality of the gospel than any other recent controversy evangelicals have engaged in.”
That’s quite a statement from pastor John MacArthur about the hottest topic in the church and mainstream society—social justice.
Sadly, a great division in the Evangelical church has formed over the issue of social justice. One side sees the pursuit of social justice (i.e. working to rectify perceived social inequalities related to ethnicity, gender, privilege, sexuality, economics, and immigration status, to name a few) as inexorably leading to a neglect of the Great Commission to make disciples first and foremost.
The other side sees social justice as an implication of the gospel (i.e. “Social justice is a gospel issue”). In other words, Christians are to preach the gospel while working for equity in society as well.
So which side is right? The question we need to ask is: What does the Bible say about social justice and what was the example of Jesus and the early church?

Protect Kids: Stop Comprehensive Sex Ed - Rally September 22 (Child Protection League)
Child Protection League Presents
PROTECT KIDS RALLY
Sunday, September 22, 1:30pm
At the State Capitol
A bill that will greatly harm our children (Bill HF1414) is currently being pursued in Minnesota. This is a radical movement to normalize all gender identities, teach how to have sex without the boundaries in marriage, and encourage sexual behavior that will harm children and young people long term. In 2019 MN House Bill HF1414 was passed by House Democrat majority that mandated Comprehensive Sex Eduction (CSE) in every MN School District. Although it was defeated in the Senate, CSE proponents have promised to keep the pressure on to force this mandate on all preK-12 public/charter school students in the State of Minnesota and beyond. We must stand together in full force.
We are looking for HELP in getting the word out on this SERIOUS ISSUE, because it WILL be back in the 2020 Legislative session. We need people in every corner of this state to get the word out that we do not support CSE and that we will have a STATEWIDE RALLY.
Please pass on information to people in your area to RAISE THE WORD about this dangerous legislation and about the upcoming rally put on by Child Protection League, an allied organization of Minnesota Family Council
