Dear Friend,
I have long said that government shutdowns achieve nothing. They waste taxpayer dollars, hurt our economy, and force federal workers, first responders, and members of our nation's military to serve without the certainty of a paycheck.
That is why I recently voted for a clean, bipartisan funding bill to keep our government open and accountable to the American people. Unfortunately, this commonsense proposal was blocked in the Senate, causing the federal government to shut down on October 1.
I believe this shutdown is reckless, wasteful, and that it will ultimately harm the hardworking families in our community. I’m committed to getting our government back up and running as swiftly as possible.
During this time, my offices in Washington, Anaheim Hills, and Mission Viejo remain open to assist you and answer any questions you may have. I have also asked that my own pay be withheld until Congress does its job and reopens the government.
In the meantime, I will continue working around the clock to end this impasse and ensure you stay informed. You can find a comprehensive resource guide on how the shutdown may affect you and your family here.
As always, my team and I are here to serve you. If you need help with Social Security, VA benefits, SBA loans, passports, immigration paperwork, or any other federal services, please do not hesitate to reach out to my offices.
Receive real-time updates on my work for you by signing up for my e-newsletter and following me on social media on Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube at @RepYoungKim.
Sincerely,
Young Kim
