![]() It’s been four days since MAGA Republicans shut down the government in order to jack up your premiums and kick 30,000 people in my district off their health care — and I wish I had better news. Democrats have come to the bargaining table in good faith again and again. But Republicans aren’t even showing up. Instead, they’re treating this shutdown like their own personal vacation. That’s how little they care about running our country. Enough is enough. Look, a government shutdown isn’t some unavoidable act of nature, no matter how many times Republicans try to paint it that way. The consequences are far-reaching, but the cause is always political. There’s a reason these shutdowns only happen when Republicans are in charge. This is happening because Republicans won an election last year — and because of that outcome, the GOP believes they can skirt their responsibilities with no backlash. But they’re wrong. Families are waking up to the fact that government shutdowns only seem to happen when Republicans are in control. And that’s no coincidence. So if we want to stop these shutdowns from happening in the future, we need to take back control of Congress next year. It’s that simple.
