As governor of Montana, Steve Bullock has proven he’ll fight for his constituents -- which is exactly why we at When Democrats Turn Out have endorsed him for the U.S. Senate.
In his two terms, Governor Bullock has made consumer protection, fair wages for all, and the protection of public lands and resources key priorities of his administration.
Meanwhile Governor Bullock’s opponent, Republican incumbent Steve Daines, represents the worst the GOP has to offer. It was Daines who interrupted Elizabeth Warren during her reading of Coretta Scott King’s letter on the Senate floor -- resulting in the now-iconic words: “nevertheless, she persisted.”
It was Daines who publicly applauded Trump after the president told four congresswomen of color to “go back” to their home countries. And it was Daines who bragged about securing expanded unemployment benefits for his constituents during the current crisis -- despite voting against the bill on the Senate floor.
In short, we can’t wait to replace Daines with Governor Bullock -- and looking at recent polls, that goal is well within reach. Governor Bullock leads Daines by 4 points among Montana voters -- but his lead is still within the margin of error.
In a deep red state like Montana, we’ll need to do a lot better than that.
