Since Donald Trump took back the White House and launched his cruel mass-deportation agenda, Americans have been feeling the devastating consequences:

• We’ve seen numerous of our neighbors swept up with no due process, including legal residents and even citizens. And despite Trump’s claims to be focused on criminals, the vast majority of detainees have zero criminal convictions. 


• We’ve seen reports of inhumane conditions at detention centers – over a dozen people have died in ICE custody in 2025. This is the highest rate of deaths of any year on record.


• Not only are people suffering in detention centers and at the hands of ICE agents, but hundreds have gone missing. New reporting indicates that two-thirds of the people held at the “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center are unable to be located by their loved ones.

Now, Trump has threatened to expand his war on American cities. Just last weekend, we saw armed, camouflaged and masked Immigration agents patrolling the streets of Chicago. 

This cannot be who we are, John.

Look, John: I’m a racial, religious, ethnic minority immigrant. My parents moved here from India when I was a baby in search of the American Dream.

Growing up in Peoria, Illinois, I often felt like an outsider. But I never had to fear my government going after me or people who looked like me as part of a cruel political agenda. 

That’s why I’ve been leading the fight for accountability, and proposing meaningful reforms to ensure this kind of cruelty never happens again.

It’s why I’ve shown up on the ground to try to force accountability. But when I tried to do my job, I was kicked out of an ICE facility in Chicago. They called the police on me for trespassing. 

I hope I can count on you to stand with me as I work to bring this fight to the U.S. Senate. Will you chip in $25 to power my fight for justice, accountability and our rights?
