Oklahoma,

Rather than put the needs of our armed services members, federal workers, and the American people first, the Democrats have decided to shut down the government SOLELY because of their Trump Derangement Syndrome. The government could be reopened in 5 MINUTES if Chuck Schumer put his political career aside and joined the 52 Senate Republicans and three Democrats who have voted to keep the lights on. Instead, Schumer is holding the United States hostage over crazy demands that America rejected last November.

To be clear: the only bipartisan solution on the table to re-open the government is the Republican’s clean, 7-week continuing resolution. Instead of supporting a clean extension, like Democrats have done 13 times under Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer is insisting on the following demands:

     - Democrats want us to cut $50 billion for America's rural hospitals.
     - They want to gut portions of President Trump's 'One Big, Beautiful Bill’ — our core legislative achievement to lower taxes and secure the border.
     - They're demanding $1.5 trillion to fund their partisan demands, including taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants.

My mom says it best, "You can't argue with crazy." Democrats must come to their senses and support a clean extension to get the government working again for the American people. We're staying in 24/7 communication with the White House and our colleagues to ensure we don't give into extortion.

Whether Democrats realize it or not, by shutting down the government—they have forfeited a lot of power to the President of the United States. In a shutdown, President Trump has the authority to deem federal workers essential or non-essential, and make a lot of decisions about the function of government. Now, Senate Democrats must decide: vote with us to re-open the government, or empower the Trump administration to shrink the size of government.

Please know that although the federal government is in a shutdown, my offices are OPEN, federal casework is being processed for Oklahomans, and the Schumer Shutdown will NOT change our normal business hours. That being said, I want to answer some frequently asked questions you may have about the shutdown’s impact on VA benefits, Medicare payments, and more.

I want to be clear, this is 100% a SCHUMER SHUTDOWN. He's doing this out of fear that he'll be primaried by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and lose his seat in the Senate. Unfortunately, Chuck Schumer is bringing his entire party and the nation down with him. On Friday, I joined Fox News's Harris Faulkner on The Faulkner Focus to expose him and his party's hypocrisy over theshutdown and how it could all be over if they'd be willing to vote for their exact same funding levels they've voted for in March.
