New Pennsylvania Project

It’s officially October, fellow activist, which means we have just over one month to ensure that voters understand what’s at stake in this fall’s elections.

A recent article from Ms. Magazine details exactly why we all should be laser-focused on the retention elections in Pennsylvania on November 4:

Retention or Removal? How a Quiet Judicial Election Could Reshape Pennsylvania

As the article accurately points out, the courts play a crucial role in Pennsylvania’s future when it comes to gerrymandering, reproductive rights, education funding, LGBTQ+ rights, voting access, and so much more.

Earlier this year in Wisconsin, Susan Crawford won a record-breaking election to the state’s Supreme Court. Her victory was a rejection of MAGA’s attacks on reproductive freedom.

It’s our turn next, Pennsylvania. Three justices on PA’s Supreme Court are standing for retention in November, in addition to one judge on the Commonwealth and one judge on the Superior Court. We must protect the independence of our state courts – free from extremist influences.

As Kadida Kenner – our founder and CEO – put it: “Wisconsin voters spoke up and spoke out, came out in record numbers. Pennsylvania’s going to have to have that same type of energy to overcome any campaigns and attempts to disrupt the independence of our state court.”

We are relying on grassroots support to make this happen. Election Day is only 4 weeks away. Please rush $25 to support our Get-Out-The-Vote efforts now →

Donations to the New Pennsylvania Project supports our staff’s community engagement efforts including; organizing and hosting town halls, educational webinars, community conversations, and creating digital content, bi-weekly blasts and social media to reach the communities we engage year-round.

The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.
