Virginia Dream Act

Last Wednesday was July 1, the traditional date on which legislation passed by the Virginia General Assembly takes effect. One set of bills that the Chamber was proud to support was the Virginia Dream Act, sponsored by Delegate Alfonso Lopez and Senators Jennifer Boysko and Ghazala Hashmi, which provides eligibility for in-state tuition for all students who attended high school in the Commonwealth, without regard to their citizenship or immigration status. Building opportunities for students to attend Virginia’s colleges and universities not only helps bridge the opportunity gap by supporting our students in developing the skills to succeed, but it also helps the Commonwealth to be a leader in workforce readiness, developing the talent we need for our growing economy.

Company Flowers & Gifts Too! now sells double-thick masks sewn by an Arlington quilt-making woman who transforms her scraps into elegant masks. All proceeds are donated to the Arlington Free Clinic.

If you are a Chamber member and have any stories to share of your business supporting the local community during this difficult time, please tag the Chamber on social media and use the #Biz4Good, also contact the Communications Coordinator, for consideration to be included in a future e-newsletter.

During times of uncertainty, understanding your organization’s cashflow becomes a valuable tool so you can better navigate your options, manage cash, and direct management decisions. One way to understand your cashflow is to prepare a cashflow projection. It is intended to provide a prediction for the organization’s cash inflows and outflows, which will help identify shortages in funding an organization. This type of information is always better to address in advance. When preparing a cashflow projection, here are few things to consider.
