We wanted to be sure you saw this critical opportunity to help keep Sudan alive. Partners on the ground are telling us that hunger is so severe, 'people have become like ghosts'.
Yet every day Sudanese people are saving each other's lives through community kitchens and clinics -- and they're asking for our help. If everyone getting this gives a small amount, we could combine our resources to help keep food and medicine flowing.Thousands of Avaaz members have already come together. Will you join in? See more below and please consider giving what you can.
Dear friends,
Sudan is facing the deadliest humanitarian crisis on Earth.
A vicious civil war has now killed over 150,000 people and created the biggest refugee crisis on the planet. Healthcare is collapsing, children are dying of hunger, and world governments are doing almost nothing.Yet amid the horror and heartbreak, something beautiful is happening.
Across the country, ordinary citizens are pulling together, running hundreds of community kitchens and clinics. Offering food, medicine and shelter, these Emergency Response Rooms have become a lifeline for countless families escaping extreme violence and famine. They're so effective, they were nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
But now even these fragile lifelines are unravelling. With little support from governments or aid agencies, community kitchens are running out of supplies, and many have been forced to close.
This is an emergency appeal for donations .
Together, we can help to keep these Emergency Response Rooms open, rushing food and medicine to families who have nothing left. And we won’t stop there -- we'll also shine a massive media spotlight onto the suffering in Sudan, and accelerate our global campaign for action.
Every single donation will help keep hope alive in Sudan. Please give what you can now:

Twenty years after the genocide in Darfur, Sudan is standing on the brink. A war between rival armies has engulfed the entire country, triggering waves of mass murder, torture, and weaponised rape. Families have lost everything trying to escape violence and famine -- now 30 million people need immediate help.
Communities across the country have responded in the most incredible ways, pooling what little they have to cook meals, give emergency shelter, and even provide basic medical care in some cases. But after two years of brutal conflict, supplies are dwindling and funding is scarce. If these kitchens close, millions more people will face starvation. We cannot let it happen. If we raise enough, we could: Provide ongoing food and basic medical care for thousands of families -- by funding as many community kitchens and Emergency Response Rooms as possible; Fund doctors and medical teams, hospital equipment , and the establishment of a cholera treatment clinic in Darfur; Support journalists and human rights monitors to report on mass atrocities and document war crimes -- helping to create a global media spotlight; Accelerate hard-hitting investigations to expose the international backers and beneficiaries of the war, revealing how countries like the UAE are profiting by supplying weapons and fuelling atrocities in Sudan; and, Escalate our campaign to protect civilians and end the war, pushing for government intervention to break the telecommunications blackout and release a flood of humanitarian aid. This is how we show solidarity in the face of crisis: citizens on the ground, backed by thousands and thousands of us around the world. Please donate what you can now:

With fierce hope and determination, always,
Mike, Marigona, Kaitlin, Will, Shayna, Andy and the whole team at AvaazNote: Avaaz is very careful about when and how we use photos of children, and the overall circumstances surrounding their depiction. In this case we felt it was important for the world to see the horror of what's happening in Sudan -- but opted for a photo that hides the identities of mother and child. The photo was taken at the Mother of Mercy Hospital in Sudan's South Kordofan state.
🕊️ What Your Donations Have Made Possible in Sudan Provided food and medical care to over 300,000 people. With the donations of Avaaz members, partners on the ground have delivered more than a million meals to displaced families -- along with medical care, hygiene kits, and shelter to those who’ve lost everything. Sponsored journalists risking their lives to document atrocities. When aid cuts almost shut down Sudanese media outlets, our donations have kept them running. Their reports have been featured on the BBC, the Guardian, the New York Times and more -- escalating the pressure on governments to act. Launched a groundbreaking effort to keep Sudan connected. After Sudan’s warlords shut down the internet, Avaaz support is bringing back access for journalists, activists, and aid workers -- ensuring their voices can reach the world and serve as evidence of war crimes. From London to Paris to New York, we’re making leaders confront Sudan’s crisis. With bold stunts and relentless advocacy, we're helping to secure increased humanitarian pledges, and are demanding safe passage for civilians and greater pressure on Sudan’s warring sides to end the war.
PS. This might be your first donation to our movement ever. But what a first donation! Did you know that Avaaz relies entirely on small donations from members like you? That's why we're fully independent, nimble and effective. Join the over 1 million people who've donated to make Avaaz a real force for good in the world.
