I wanted to reach out personally to give a sincere thank you for the support you’ve shown me in the weeks since we launched our campaign for Congress here in South Texas.

I must admit that one of the hardest parts of campaigning is fundraising. I’m not used to asking people for money, but it takes a lot of money to run a campaign, especially in a race as competitive as this one. My Republican opponent has big donors ready to attack me every chance they get, so we need to be ready for anything that comes our way.

We’re off to a good start, but my hope is to build enough momentum to spend less time on the phones and more time on the ground talking face-to-face with voters. We’re building a campaign that lasts, and that starts here.
