LGBTQ+ Stories You Should Know About

Sharice Davids’ District Targeted Again in Redistricting Power Grab

Kansas legislators are once again targeting U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids’ district in their relentless effort to silence her voice and erase her historic leadership.

This is the second attempt in just a few years to reshape her district through gerrymandering, the first came in 2022. And, it’s part of a broader national strategy to weaken fair representation.

Sharice made history as the first out LGBTQ+ person to represent Kansas in Congress and is one of the few Native American members serving today. Her leadership has been groundbreaking, and these attacks are not just political. They’re an attempt to roll back progress and deny Kansans the representative they chose.

Trump Shutdown Escalates Attacks on Trans Rights

The looming government shutdown isn’t just about budget brinkmanship, it’s being weaponized to advance Trump’s extremist, anti-trans agenda.

In recent days, Trump has doubled down on provisions targeting trans people, while FBI Director Kash Patel went so far as to declare a “war” on the community. Attorney General Pam Bondi added fuel by falsely blaming trans people for political violence.

And in Minnesota, the administration is manipulating Title IX to attack pro-trans policies, many of them championed by former Victory Fund candidates like State Representatives Leigh Finke, Brion Curran, Erin Maye Quade, and others who have worked tirelessly to secure protections and equality.

In good news, a number of states have stepped up to defend trans rights after HHS threatened to cut funding for programming mentioning trans and nonbinary people.
